In this work, the cross occupies the center of the composition as both a visual and symbolic axis. It not only structures the image but also serves as an anchor for the appearance of ambiguous figures surrounding it. Around it, a multitude of forms — some animal-like, some human, others impossible to classify — emerge from the dark background. Each figure seems more discovered than invented, as if arising from a spontaneous vision or the fragmented memory of the subconscious.
The golden animal, placed right at the intersection of the cross’s arms, draws attention as a central figure, though not necessarily the protagonist. Its denser and more luminous texture contrasts with the flatter surrounding areas. As a whole, the painting functions like a chaotic altar, where the sacred and the monstrous coexist, clash, or blend together.
This painting clearly reflects an interest in pareidolia and in that visual memory that transforms what is seen into something meaningful — even when no clear narrative is present. It is an open allegory, where religiosity appears as a web of perceptions, fears, and symbols that, rather than offering answers, provoke reflection.
